Monroe County is located in Southeastern West Virginia.

The county was founded in 1799 and named for James Monroe, the fifth president of the United States. Monroe County lies in rolling, mountianous country with elevations ranging from 1500 to 3400 feet above sea level. Our area has breathtaking scenery and a very desirable climate. Golfing here is year round and Winterplace Ski Resort is only a 45 minute drive away on Route 460 and Interstate 77.
